Chanel Suit

On August 5th, 1923, Coco Chanel debuted her new line.

"'The show opened with 'a neat collection of taillleurs and sports suites (sic) ... with fancy knitted woolen jackets,' a writer reporting from Paris penned for the New York Times."

The first Chanel suits shown in this collection were very different than the ones we know today. The suits first introduced were less stylish and diverse than the Chanel suits today. The concept of menswear was obvious, but the suit was still feminized. The details that Coco Chanel put on the suit made it a perfect fit for all women. The Chanel suit was one of Coco Chanel's most famous trademarks, and this contributed to women looking more professional in the workforce.
